I'm currently studying Kajukembo Karate, Jujitsu, Aikido, Tai Chi Chuan, and will soon be starting Cardio Kickboxing, Tae Kwon Do, and Muay Thai. Much more recently, i've been taking collegiate and grecko/roman wrestling, have gotten certified in Stage Combat (unarmed and single rapier styles) and have been getting ready to begin boot camp at All Pro Wrestling for further training (Think WWE). It's a lot of fun, and a LOT more work than people think.

A lot of people seem to like Medieval and Chinese zodiac; I've never been too much into it, but quite recently I've read up on both Gemini and the Dragon (both of which I happen to be.) I am THE DEFINITION of both a Gemini AND a Dragon. A dangerous combination, apparently. So really, if you want to know about me, all you have to do is know about, or read up on, either of those signs, and you'll know me pretty damn well.

I have four tattoos. Each has a specific meaning, and a story to go along with it. I plan to get more, they truly are very addicting. I only have an ear piercing, but I've been told I'd look alright with an eyebrow ring. What do you think?

My name is Todd and I'm 21. I'm currently going to DVC but am waiting to hear back from my UC applications within the next few months so who knows where that could land me. What makes a person? Form? Mind? Spirit? Something else? Or perhaps a conglomeration of all those and more. Such questions have been long the focus of many philosophers and great thinkers. And while many conclusions have been drawn, there really is no one explanation for what makes a person.

But enough of that. While I enjoy the intellectual thought process maybe a bit more than most, I am much more of a down to earth type guy.

I enjoy life, my friends, the wonders of the day and night, meeting new people, good books, family, and many more activities than I can possibly think of (and therefore notate) at this very moment.

Basic personality description: relatively smart, some times humble, often arrogant guy with a wicked sense of humor. I am able to get along with most others and often find myself to be the leader or organizer of activities. More aggressive and a bit dominate by nature. I have tried to be a bit less so, but it is incredibly hard to be passive in life for me. I am a big mix of book smarts heavily leavened with street smarts. While I can be intellectual, I prefer to fly by the seat of my pants and function on instinct and gut feeling.

Physically, I am more solid than athletic though I do enjoy physical activities. I tend to work out a few times a week on days I can work in around my schedule. In attractiveness, I am no Adonis, but rather I am a decent looking guy.

Comedy is my life. I was raised on Eddie Murphy and Nickelodeon and later consumed everything I could on the artform. I'm currently practicing improv with UC Berkeley's The Alternates and doing open mic stand up in San Francisco.

I'm pretty nerdy, I'm even on Sweet on Geeks, and hold a number of quirks. I love FLCL, puns, David Jaffe games, and Pro Wrestling Guerilla (yea my love of wrestling is of nerd proportions). Apparently I also like embarrassing myself as well.

Grew up in Queens. Living in LA. Here in Berkeley until latter half of April when my play closes at Berkeley Rep.

My parents sent me off to be a doctor and I came back a filmmaker. I began so shy I never talked and now I dance in the middle of the floor.

I strongly dislike these boxes. I am me. I don't like to confine myself to societal norms that have put constraints on my identity or who I am in life. If want to do it, I will do it, no matter who is watching me, or what is going on around me. In contrast, sometimes I can be shy, so I might not, but that's a rare occurrence. I am 4th year Practice of Art major at Cal, specifically with an interest in Installations and Sculpture. However, when delving into other areas, as well as my focus, I tend to have subject matter that borders on the taboo and socially unacceptable. I get "You go for Shock Value, don't you?" quite often. My other interest in life is being an activist. I am dedicated to my communities on campus, and will do everything for them. The Queer community, the Mixed community and the Multicultural community are my common struggles, but am an ally to many, and will be part of their struggles if need be. I live for my friends. They are the ones that keep me going in this life and the next. Aaaand, just to get it out of the way, I am Mexican, White and Native American, but identify as culturally Mexican. Hey Mixed People Hey!

i'm a california transplant, finishing a degree in comparative urbanization at berkeley. although i'm quite enamored with the bay area, i still long for (and loathe) my hometown - a humid, thundering, claustrophobic town of sleazy sailors and retired tv anchormen off the coast of southwest florida.

i'm the byproduct of a mother that has spent most of the previous twenty years between a beach and a bar, and i think it shows in the clumsy, boisterous pride that defines me - i'm certainly my mother's son.

when i'm not out theorizing about the relationship between taco carts and urban raza movements or pacing off the widths of sidewalks or doodling in the studio, i spend as much time as possible with my family of beautiful housemates - often in the kitchen, where we discuss the latest advances in the realm of vegan protein substitution, or on the porch, where we discuss the latest advances in cooperative house politics, or on some as of yet unexplored city avenue, where we discuss what it means to write hopelessly meandering sentences, and how one may appropriately punctuate them.

My philosophy on life at the moment is to always leap with both feet. I will try almost anything (excluding oysters and anchovies) once and I love doing things that are new and exciting. I'm a bit (ok, that's an understatement) of a chatter box once I open up and I am incredibly passionate about the people and issues I care about.

Hi/Privet/Sawadeekap, the name's Pavel and I was born in Russia, but I've spent the better part of my life in Thailand. At present I am living in Berzerkeley to pursue my interests in English and Russian literature, philosophy and linguistics. I own many leather-bound books, and my home smells of rich mahogany. I have a bit of an accent, but it's not thick and I'd say most people have trouble pinpointing where it is I am actually from.

Humor is very important to me. I am a connoisseur of laughter. If you really dislike Bill Hicks or Sacha Baron Cohen or Mitch Hedberg or Eddie Izzard or even old George Carlin, you probably won't like my sense of humor. It is definitely an acquired taste. On the surface, what I find to be funny is usually offensive, vulgar, sexual, racist or outright retarded to the point of absurdity. Underlying what would appear to be senseless "base" humor, there is a calculated ingenuity. I don't believe that offensive humor is inherently funny - it requires a subtle cleverness to really succeed.

Things I enjoy: reading, writing, lucid dreaming, cooking, all sorts of games (board/video/sports), exercise, hiking, good wine, photography, movies, theater/shows, concerts, dancing, clubbing and wasting time on the internet.

i'm a bit unusual. i live a pretty simple life that most people would find boring but i enjoy it. i have a college degree and work in heavy construction. some people can't understand that, but working in an office just doesn't do it for me, and i get a lot of satisfaction from my job. it also (usually) allows me enough free time to do things that i enjoy and i can forget all about work when i'm not there. i'm almost totally unplugged from mainstream culture (see note above about lack of TV) but, if i didn't point it out, nobody would really notice. i like to make things and build things. i like to read and i'm kind of a book slut. i like to take my camera for long walks where there are lots of birds and bugs. i wouldn't call myself a foodie but i sure do like food. i'm rough around the edges but i clean up well. i tend to avoid large groups of people. i really like to travel but i have reservations about the ecological impact of air travel. some of my best friends have been dogs.

I'm a student at Cal who is currently working towards a degree in Rhetoric. An interesting topic despite the aura and perception of bs that surrounds it :) I used to play sports in high school (waterpolo) but have realized that the good life isn't about being on the verge of drowning because of a 210 pound guard making you sink.

I wear stupid sunglasses constantly. I cook for money, smoke cigarettes while riding bicycles, build lamps out of bottles, buy books when I am worrying about rent, own a typewriter and an adding machine, drink cheap wine on my roof in the summer, buy notebook after notebook and desgnate specific uses to each one. I'm a pretty original blend. I grew up in Italy, then lived in DC (a great city), then kept migrating west, and here I am. So far, the unexpected zigs and zags of my life have been mostly quite wonderful. I'm interested in practically everything, including dance, literature, politics, nature, fine arts, social work, social justice. Picking a profession, let alone a college major was tough. I did some stints as a social worker and political operative, before falling for the joys of basic science research. I survived grad school at Cal, and meant to be a researcher, until I accidentally found myself teaching the coolest students on the planet. So, I'm still teaching.

Character-wise, I'm also a unique blend, if I say so myself. (I know, that's so odd to do in a self-summary, but hang in there with me.) I'm goofy, kind, spiritual, outgoing, complex, friendly, caring, optimistic. I'm a warm, easy-going, messy perfectionist. I'm a dreamer. Dancing has been a life-long passion. I'm affectionate. I'm decent at communicating. I have a quick mind, and, on most days, a quick wit. I would be a great asset to your program and to my chosen profession. Ooops, delete that last sentence: apparently I've been writing too many recs for my students lately.

I've been blessed with some great friends, throughout my life. They're almost perfect, except they don't go to nearly enough to see theatre, so I'm always up for theatre buddies. And, somehow all my friends speak no italian. I know, I know, the Bay Area is rife with Italians. Toss a spoon and you'll spear one. Well, show up with a spear and speak Italian, and I'm all yours, for the morning. Oh wait, I don't do mornings: I'm a creature of the night. Well, we'll work it out. I recently graduated at Berkeley, majoring in Sociology because I want to have a better understanding of how society works and learn about the inequalities we have in our world. I love forming strong relationships with friends and I care about people's well being. My friends consider me to be a very giving person and not the kind that expects anything in return. I am a good nature, very down to earth and do not see material things as the most important things in life. I enjoy the small details like just being around people who I love and share the day with them. Talking, dining, seeing plays or having an ice cream are some of my favorite things to do.
I also have a physical condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) and eventhough it causes me to have some physical limitations in my daily life, I have a strong will to get it accomplished by other means. It requires time and strategic planning just like everything else in life. However, I do like to do things in spontaneity even I like structure. As you get to know me, you will see that I am genuine and looking for a like-minded people like myself.

I'm basically a pesty little freak, I like to go out and drink life as it were. I'm a really open person, I grew up in San Francisco so I'm a free and accepting thinker. I like to be silly and laugh but I also love, since I'm back in school again, very engaging converstions, I'm studying art history so I find lots of intellectual things to talk about now but always open to gossip about bullshit. Partying is fun but I also could go out for a cup of tea and a good chat, I like listening to peoples stories. I've been told that I'm good for a laugh, usually laughing about me but that's ok, I know I'm animated. I'm pretty laid back and tend to accomodate others with things to do, I seem indecisive but really I'll have fun in whatevers going on. If I really don't like you or what we're doing I'll be damn sure to tell you. I have a tendency to be shy and guarded when I first meet someone, but when you get to know me you'll realize that I'm incourageable yet strangely loveable, otherwise known as remedial....

Our work makes a difference: a major industrial research lab sent someone to personally ask that I release one of my software tools as open source so they could use it; I even get the occasional fan mail.

I adore girls. I keep a small circle of long-term amazing friends who know they can trust me; they are so amazing and I am moved and honored to have them in my life.

I enjoy hiking, climbing, volunteering, the stock market, running, math, physics, finance, thinking about things, and exploring new places.

I like music, a lot, though don't always have time to keep up with it, and am trying to learn the guitar and I also enjoy board games and movies though I have a hard time keeping up with those, too, and rock climbing and being redundant and writing run-on sentences.

I'm a teacher in Berkeley. I love meeting new people, playing Board Games and Card Games and Video Games Actually games in general. I'm not too into sports, though I do root for home teams like Oakland A's and Giants and the Warriors, but other than that I just watch sports if they're on. Though I do like watching Poker on tv.

I enjoy cooking, and eating, reading, and listening to national public radio. I especially enjoy discussions of current events and issues. I like to people watch in the city, and hike in the hills looking at nature. I am able bodied, and adventuresome. My pastimes include skiing, bike riding, lake swimming, hiking, and boating. I travel to both cities and national parks. I have been to Europe once where I saw a bit of Germany and much more of Italy.

The short version: My honesty makes me sound like an asshole, but I'm gentle by nature. My sense of humor often runs directly contrary to my genuine convictions. I'm an environmentalist, vegetarian, pianist, singer, amateur composer, feminist, poet and writer, animal rights activist, intellectual and would-be philosopher but you would guess none of it from the sarcastic and harsh casual conversation I share with comfortable friends. Principles and concerns of love, freedom, and truth elusively but traceably underpin all my behavior. I really don't take myself as seriously as it looks here.

Politically I'm extremely liberal, while in personal practice I appear conservative. At age 23, I've never smoked, sniffed, or shot anything. I'm not quick about romantic partners and bed partners, though I have no problem with others' choices. My political liberalism is based on a premise of self-ownership. I just know more or less what I want out of life and what's important to me; an abundance of substances and sex partners just doesn't fit the bill.

All the same, this is the period of my life where I'm figuring just what it is I want in a girl, and I know that the qualities I'm attracted to are uncommon at best, and rarely found together. I won't even describe personality or raw attraction as extremely important, they're just necessary.

On a random note, I would LOVE to meet someone who could argue a conservative or christian viewpoint well, though probably not for a relationship.

I'm the go-to guy in the physics department for funny videos on the Internet. (Damn right, I'm proud of that!) I had to tell someone about the "Lazy Sunday" video. In 2010. *Shakes head in disapproval* Some of my friends might be able to write up code that controls the particle collider at CERN, but they've got to go to me if they want to know the latest on what's up on Internet comedy. Someone was trying to describe me to someone else; she came up with, "Brad's the one who's always in front of a computer laughing at something." I was pretty satisfied with that description.

One of my roommates consistently describes me as a "goober-head" after I make some terrible joke or speak out rap lyrics as though they were prose. (The latter most certainly does NOT fall into the former category.)

About a year ago, a few friends and I made a habit of watching horrible shows on VH1. It started with the first "Tool Academy," then we went on to "Rock of Love: Scabies" or whatever it was called. We're currently catching up with the exploits of the cast of "Jersey Shore." Uh... ironically, I assure you.

I'm a just-turned-68 retired lawyer/investment banker, Georgetown-Yale educated, bright, funny, financially secure, curious, warm, widowed guy looking for a bright, warm, intellectually curious woman to share the rest of my life. After my wife died, I sold our huge house and most of its contents (am still auctioning off stuff) and moved into a middle-class 2 bdrm apartment crowded with books. Before moving to the apartment, I went to France for 3 months, took a four-week intensive French course at L'Institut de Francais in Villefranche-sur-mer, then went to Paris to meet my son; we toured Paris, then went to Florence with as a side trip to Siena. I also stayed with a friend in Monaco for 3 weeks. It was a wonderful experience, just the perfect break from all the stuff attendant to winding up my wife's estate, selling the house and some other real estate, etc.

I was born, as most people, about 13.7 billion years ago as part of a small perturbation in an unstable vacuum. In this respect, I come from a large, diverse family. My personality has been shaped by random mutations over the past 3.5 billion years on a coalesced bit of supernovae remnants. Side effects of this process have led to some annoying behaviors, such as a bias in the leptonic structure of the matter I assimilate (though I immediately disassemble this structure for my own purposes). I am also motivated to exchange information with and be proximate to baryonic assemblances similar to my own (beyond what is sufficient for self-improvement). Unfortunately, the aforementioned random selection process that created me has biased my interaction preferences. It appears unlikely that this flaw can be corrected, so I'm forced instead to seek a rare ligand to patch this behavioral bug. I am, however, open to relationships with dark matter.

I'm excellent at making it appear that I know what I'm doing. Most of the time it's because I DO know what I'm doing, other times it's a case of "did not read directions before assembling".

Where to begin... I'm pretentious, self righteous, and cynical. I love ideas, intellectual discussion/arguments, wierd music (noise, industrial, etc), sci fi. I think that cults and lunatics have incredibly comedic value. I've also written and published a science fiction novel myself (ask for more info) and I'm probably one of the more eccentric persons you'll ever meet.

I grew up in a very rural area of Michigan surrounded by nature, farmland, and God-fearing straight-ticket Republicans. I'd point to my hand to show you where, but I think the bit loses a little something when you can't see it. I wouldn't trade my formative experiences there for anything; if nothing else, it gave me an intense desire to seek varied perspectives, opinions, and cultures.

I'm big on travelling - I've spent a summer backpacking through Thailand and Cambodia, Christmas in Amsterdam, New Years' Hogmanay in Edinburgh, driven circles around the UK, St. Patrick's Day in Ireland, and explored Mexico City and surrounding colonial cities, though my most recent exploring has been done domestically. I'm looking forward to getting to know some of this side of the country.

I love sports and competition in general. I follow most major sports pretty closely, and enjoy talking about stats or storylines. I like golfing, and will never turn down the chance to get on the course.

I study nerdy things at school (math and computer science), but I also try to exercise my right brain. I was heavily involved in theater at school, though I never acted. I produced, stage managed, and did some playwrighting. Since I finished undergrad, I've done some directing and even put on one of the shows I wrote. I haven't done much in a while, and I think a new venue might be good for me.

So now after 5 years of the real world, I'm back to school and have made it through the first year of my PhD program. I've only lived in the Bay Area for about a year, and there's still a ton to figure out here. I'm originally from New England and I'm proud of it. I'll still be rooting for the Sox and the Pats. I've shoveled my car out of 2 feet snowbanks and lived in a house where for a week it was 45 degrees inside. I vote for Democrats. I miss the New England fall, but not so much the winter.

I enjoy intellectual challenges and can find almost anything interesting, for a time. One challenge I face continually is to live up to my strong principles, among which a very important one is tolerance. Another one is humility, which makes it a bit hard to go on and on about myself...
